Sometime around 6:45pm last Saturday there was a moment of silence as Hozier filled the desert sound waves with the laud of amen as he performed Take Me To Church for thousands of humans, ranging from age baby to grandparent, at weekend two of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
There is something to be said about finding a moment of peace among a polo field full of beautifully organized chaos, the connection to the music and the energy surrounding are the moments I live for.
I’ve been meaning to write about Hozier since I realized that I liked more than one of his songs and his rise to fame was not solely due to a one-hit wonder. It was not my intention to attend Coachella this year but when a dear friend asked me to help work at the Free Range booth in VIP how could I say no? In turn I got to see the six-piece band perform live on the main stage at sunset, the lure of the gospel-driven blues hit had Coachella goers captivated.
The 25 year-old Irish Musician is making his way around the globe and touring the states through the end of the year. He’ll make his way back to Cali this fall and will be in Los Angeles at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on October 13th. He’s heading towards the top and doing so with effortless style and single handedly making the man bun happed – Andrew Hozier Byrne is a babe!
Amen. Amen. Amen.
