Music Review: Uptown Funk ft. Bruno Mars

Uptown Funk

Just when I thought I was over Bruno Mars – like said it out loud several times while skipping through Just the Way You Are and When I Was Your Man. Don’t get me wrong I loved those songs but sometimes you need that old school soul vibe, think Soul Train circa 1981.

Then it happened one day when I was driving to Hot 8 Yoga – Namaste – listening to Ryan Seacrest interview Mark Ronson to tee up what has been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks, hallelujah for ‘Uptown Funk’. Props to Mark Ronson for producing the track and spending 7 months chasing Bruno around the world to get it done, he was on the Moonrise Jungle Tour.

Uptown Funk is one groovy tune that embraces so much of the amazingness that came out of the ’80s funk and R&B genre. I’m going to go ahead and say that this one has taken Bruno to another level – dare I say he’s just hit the Prince, Michael Jackson (RIP), and James Brown status?! He’s got that swagger and those dance moves … don’t believe me just watchbut seriously, take the 4 min to watch the music video – soak it all in and thank me later. Smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy!
