It’s impossible to say that all protein bars are bad for you. But I can comfortably say that most of them are. Why?
- Most protein bars are made with whey protein, which is a form of dairy. (See Part One of “Healthy Foods That Are Bad For You”)
- They contain processed ingredients, fillers, and artificial ingredients
- They have lots of added sugar
Check the nutritional label. If you’re going to eat a protein bar, be sure it’s organic. If there are more than 200 calories, the sugar content is more than 4 grams, or if the list of ingredients is a mile long, you probably shouldn’t eat it.
